Urgent Aid for Displaced Families in Southern Gaza
A Crisis Within a Crisis
In the heart of Khan Younis, southern Gaza, over 60,000 families were left homeless following an unexpected airstrike in early 2023. Among them was the Al-Khatib family, a household of 7, including two disabled children and an elderly grandmother. Their home was reduced to rubble overnight, and they sought refuge in a makeshift shelter beside a damaged clinic.
With no access to food, water, or hygiene supplies and humanitarian corridors blocked hope was fading fast.
A Lifeline Through Rise Fund Global
On the ground, Rise Fund Global activated its Emergency Rapid Response Protocol, in coordination with our regional field partner. Within 36 hours, emergency funds were wired through a secure cross-border network using our mobile disbursement partners and Wise.
The $22,400 emergency relief grant was used to:
- Deliver 72 hygiene kits, blankets, and first aid packages
- Install temporary water tanks and solar lights for 3 communal shelters
- Provide direct cash aid (via mobile money and paper vouchers) to 34 displaced families
- Secure mobile health checkups for the elderly and children
A Family Restored
“We didn’t know who to call anymore. No one picked up. But your people came, and they came fast,” said Fatima Al-Khatib, a mother of five.
Her family received direct financial aid, along with food parcels and emotional support visits from local partners funded by Rise Fund Global.
